{"id":36809,"date":"2016-12-03T09:41:45","date_gmt":"2016-12-03T07:41:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=36809"},"modified":"2016-12-03T09:41:45","modified_gmt":"2016-12-03T07:41:45","slug":"nkhotakota-youths-in-good-governance-advocacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/12\/03\/nkhotakota-youths-in-good-governance-advocacy\/","title":{"rendered":"Nkhotakota youths in good governance advocacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Youths in Nkhotakota have vowed to continue playing advocacy role in order to foster issues of good governance.<\/p>\n<p>The youths made the remarks last week during a review meeting of how established Youth Action Committees and District Youth Networks are carrying out their duties in a project aimed at enhancing youth participation in local governance structures.<\/p>\n<p>Chairperson of Nkhotakota Youth Network Committee James Chimbiya said the advocacy role they are playing is aimed at ensuring that people in communities are getting best services from their duty bearers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur duty is to follow up on how development activities are being implemented. For instance if a Member of Parliament has promised to construct a school block but is not delivering, it is our duty to make follow ups on what is the problem,\u201d said Chimbiya.<\/p>\n<p>Nkhotakota Youth Organisation is implementing the K26 million project with funding from Plan International Malawi.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation\u2019s Project Officer Andrew Masoakhumbira, said he was pleased that the project is achieving its purposes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we are fighting for now is that our youths should have representations in committees like Area Development Committees, Village Development committees and even in full council meetings,\u201d said<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Youths in Nkhotakota have vowed to continue playing advocacy role in order to foster issues of good governance.
