Blue Eagles on Wednesday beat Civo United 1-0 at Civo Stadium to move to the top of the TNM Super League table and hammer a blow to their Capital City rivals in the survival race.<\/p>\n
Following the victory, Eagles have displaced Kamuzu Barracks (KB) at the top of the table with 51 points from 27 games whereas Civo remain second from bottom with 21 points from 25 games.<\/p>\n
Maxwell Salambula headed in Eagles\u2019 lone goal in the 68th minute to leave Civo with slim chances of surviving in the league.<\/p>\n
After the final whistle, Civo Coach, Charles Manda, appeared like a person who wished the earth to open and swallow him. Some of Civo\u2019s players wept.<\/p>\n
In a post-match reaction, Manda, though refusing to throw in the towel, admitted that his side must win all their remaining games, including against second-placed KB at the same venue on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a big mountain to climb now. We are failing to score and defend. Anyway, we will fight until the end,\u201d the former Escom United and Be Forward Wanderers\u2019 coach said.<\/p>\n
His Eagles\u2019 counterpart, Derklerk Msakakuona said: \u201cWe came with a new game -plan and we disturbed them. The race is still on and we have some tough games but we can do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
