{"id":36617,"date":"2016-12-01T09:44:44","date_gmt":"2016-12-01T07:44:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=36617"},"modified":"2016-12-01T09:44:45","modified_gmt":"2016-12-01T07:44:45","slug":"malawi-boxing-association-to-launch-professional-wing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/12\/01\/malawi-boxing-association-to-launch-professional-wing\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi Boxing Association to launch professional wing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi Boxing Association (Maba) is set to launch the Professional Malawi Boxing Association (Promabasa) to cater for professional pugilists.<\/p>\n<p>According to Maba\u2019s National Professional Boxing Committee Chairperson, Daudi Chikwanje, the new wing will be launched on December 11 at Lilongwe Community Centre Ground.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the launch was scheduled for M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe on December 3.<\/p>\n<p>Chikwanje said they also agreed to stage a national championship and launch a road map targeting qualification to 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have decided to launch the Maba championship and to kick-off the road map to Olympics 2020, Tokyo on the same day, taking into account that it will be during the end of the year. We would like those in attendance to be fully entertained,\u201d Chikwanje said.<\/p>\n<p>He said they hope for early preparations to identify boxers that can qualify for the Japan Olympic Games.<\/p>\n<p>A demonstration bout between Perpetual Mkandawire and Johnson Adams will spice up the launch in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be 15 other fights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi Boxing Association (Maba) is set to launch the Professional Malawi Boxing Association (Promabasa) to cater for professional pugilists.
