{"id":36359,"date":"2016-11-28T10:44:49","date_gmt":"2016-11-28T08:44:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=36359"},"modified":"2016-11-28T10:44:49","modified_gmt":"2016-11-28T08:44:49","slug":"sport-should-unite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/11\/28\/sport-should-unite\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Sport should unite\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sport can be used as a tool to unite people of different churches and ethnic backgrounds for the betterment of society.<\/p>\n<p>Fanizo Chinkombero said this on Saturday in his role as the Director of Programmes at Winners\u2019 Chapel Inter-church Sports bonanza held in Chitawira Township, Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>Chinkombero said the Winners\u2019 Church organised the event after realising the power of sports in spreading the gospel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSports is one thing that unites people. For instance, thousands of people gather at various stadiums just to watch a football match, so we thought of using sports to bring people together,\u201d Chinkombero said.<\/p>\n<p>He also said it was sad that some people use sports to bring divisions.<\/p>\n<p>During the bonanza, Christians from various churches participated in sports disciplines such as football, netball, chess and tag-of-war.<\/p>\n<p>Teams that participated were from Winners\u2019 Chapel Youth Lilongwe, Zomba and Blantyre branches, Assemblies of God, Charismatic Redeemed Ministries, Salvation Army, Ndirande Living Waters Church, Ndirande Kachere CCAP Church and Word of Faith Temple.<\/p>\n<p>At the event, Winners\u2019 Chapel Church also donated 50 bags of maize to 100 elderly people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sport can be used as a tool to unite people of different churches and ethnic backgrounds for the betterment of society.
