National Youth Football Association (NYFA) is set to elect new office bearers this evening at Police Officers\u2019 Mess in Mzuzu.<\/p>\n
The polls come hot on the heels of a similar process undertaken by other affiliates of the Football Association of Malawi and will be conducted with a day to go before the national finals of the FMB Under 20 League at Mzuzu Stadium.<\/p>\n
Several aspirants are set to go unopposed.<\/p>\n
Outgoing Vice General Secretary, Chimango Munthali, will run unopposed for the post of Chairperson whereas Oswald Lungu is also unchallenged for the position of vice chairperson.<\/p>\n
Tiyenkhu Chavula, who is aspiring for the post of treasurer and Dan Makiyi, an aspirant for the post of vice general secretary, will also go unopposed.<\/p>\n
But the real battle will involve outgoing General Secretary, Thokozani Chimbali, who is seeking re-election and challenger James Sawerengera.<\/p>\n
The final contest will see four aspirants battling for two executive member positions and the battle will draw Joel Magola, Gomezgani Mkandawire, McLoud Munthali and Wasauka Nyirenda.<\/p>\n
Legal advisor Christopher Tukula is also set to go unopposed.<\/p>\n
Chimango Munthali said he has a vision for the country\u2019s youth football and the absence of a challenger will not make him complacent.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want the league to develop further. We must saturate all the districts with junior league structures and we will start from under-14 to under-20,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In the national finals that kicks-off today, Fish Eagles face Ntopwa Super Boyz whereas Malema play Silver Youth.<\/p>\n
The champions will get K1 million with the runners-up pocketing K600,000.<\/p>\n
Over 120 teams across the country took part in this year\u2019s competition, which is organised by NYFA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
