{"id":36148,"date":"2016-11-24T10:18:30","date_gmt":"2016-11-24T08:18:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=36148"},"modified":"2016-11-24T10:18:30","modified_gmt":"2016-11-24T08:18:30","slug":"duo-ready-for-zimbabwe-tourney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/11\/24\/duo-ready-for-zimbabwe-tourney\/","title":{"rendered":"Duo ready for Zimbabwe tourney"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi basketball teams, Central Knights and Mimbulu, face a daunting task when they participate in Lakers Invitation Tournament from today in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n<p>The Lilongwe teams arrived in Zimbabwe yesterday after travelling by bus.<\/p>\n<p>Mimbulu are in Group A alongside JBC, Hustlaz and Nust whereas Knights were drawn in Group B against Mercenaries, Falcons and Giants.<\/p>\n<p>This is a real test for the Lilongwe teams. Malawian basketball teams struggle on the international stage.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, Knights Captain, Lucky Makonokaya, said the players were ready for the challenge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in high spirits having won the Central Zone Basketball League (Cezobal) championship. We want to show them that we are champions. We did well in Swaziland and I do not see why we should struggle in Zimbabwe,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Francis Cho, Emmanuel Phiri and Ivor Mulenga are among Knights\u2019 players that have travelled to Zimbabwe, where other teams have been drawn from Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana and South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>His Mimbulu counterpart, Leonard Banda, said his side wants to prove a point on the international stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first time for us but we want to pull a shocker. The sky is the limit.
