Sana Cricket Club defended the TNM T20 National Championship for the second successive time after beating MSC Blue by 46 runs at Mpingwe Sports Club on Sunday.<\/p>\n
MSC Blue managed 88 runs only as they were chasing down Sana, who had earlier made 134 runs.<\/p>\n
Sana Captain, Fahad Mahmood, said they deserved to defend the competition having worked tirelessly during training.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to make this trophy our own. We put enough energy in training to come out victorious,\u201d he said<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are now a formidable side because of the support we receive from Sana.\u201d<\/p>\n
TNM\u2019s Chief Officer (Enterprise Services), Vishwajeet Deshmukh, pledged continued support having signed a four-year sponsorship agreement with the Blantyre-based Cricket Academy to the tune of K24 million.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are happy with the products of the competition and from the academy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
TNM\u2019s sponsorship of the Cricket Academy goes towards equipment, administration of the academy\u2019s offices at St Andrews, coaches\u2019 training and running of training clinics in primary and secondary schools across the country.<\/p>\n
Malawi Cricket Union (MCU) President, Vivek Ganesan, who is also Cricket Academy Director, thanked TNM for the support.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the third year we have held this tournament and it has grown from 10 teams in 2014 to 32 teams this year. I am happy that of the four teams have come through the Cricket Academy development programmes that TNM is supporting, the cricketers are indigenous Malawians,\u201d Ganesan said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
