Kamuzu Barracks (KB) Sunday stormed into the final of Fisd Challenge Cup after beating Silver Strikers 1-0 at a packed Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
KB will face Be Forward Wanderers in the final on December 10 in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
A well-taken Manase Chiyesa\u2019s goal in the 67th minute was enough to send the soldiers into their first ever cup final since 2013.<\/p>\n
In the absence of injured Lucky Malata, Silver\u2019s defence was exposed and committed errors on several occasions.<\/p>\n
Nation Harazi was the main culprit when he gave Chiyesa plenty of space for the forward to fire a hard shot past goalkeeper Blessings Kameza.<\/p>\n
However, Kameza saved Kelvin Hanganda\u2019s spot-kick in the dying minutes when Mike Ntonyo fouled advancing Chiyesa.<\/p>\n
Featuring Green Harawa, for the first time this season, to partner Clement Trota upfront, the Bankers lacked will and hunger to win the match.<\/p>\n
In the first half, KB goalkeeper, Lemani Nthala, was forced to make several reflex saves.<\/p>\n
In the second half, things changed completely as the soldiers took control of the game.<\/p>\n
In a post-match reaction, Siver Assistant Coach, Lovemore Fazili, conceded defeat, saying his side displayed one of the worst performances this season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were second on the ball and lacked fighting spirit. This is the worst performance I have seen from my players this season. Anyway, we accept defeat,\u201d Fazili said.<\/p>\n
While Fazili was busy mourning the loss, KB Coach, Billy Phambala, was the happiest man.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy players did exceptionally well. We are now looking forward to the final against Wanderers. We deserved to be in the final,\u201d Phambala said.<\/p>\n
