I<\/strong>t was all fireworks on Friday night at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) as it played host to a bonfire and fireworks.<\/p>\n

The event was organised by TNM in partnership with BSC that offered family entertainment.<\/p>\n

There were rain drizzles on the night but this did not keep away people from having the much needed fun that saw them treated to bonfire, fireworks and music performances.<\/p>\n

Bonfire is a name given to various annual celebrations charactierised by bonfires and fireworks.<\/p>\n

The event celebrates different traditions on different dates depending on the country.<\/p>\n

But TNM in partnership with BSC decided to organise the event as one way of interacting with its customers and families.<\/p>\n

But was also as part of this year\u2019s bonfire commemoration which falls in November every year.<\/p>\n

BSC General Manager Johnnie Nicolau said the event provided an opportunity to the general public to have fun at the facility which is only open to paid-up members.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an annual event organised by BSC for our members and to showcase the club, which is a private members only sports club. As BSC we value the family and encourage good quality family outings,\u201d Nicolau said.<\/p>\n

He said despite having rain drizzles the event went on well and that people enjoyed the bonfire, fireworks and music performances from Theo Thomson and Mizu Band.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had jumping castles for the very young ones and also there was face painting and then Theo Thompson performance for the teenagers while Mizu Band played for the adults,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Nicolau added:<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I said this was a family fireworks night and I am happy families came and apart from the fun, they also enjoyed food and drinks. It is 120 years for Blantyre Sports Club and today was an opportunity to partner TNM and it was a good family evening.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also said that they were happy to have opened up to non-members and that this was a night for everyone.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to thank everyone involved and sponsors TNM. We really showed tonight that Malawi is a Warm Heart of Africa and it was also a good advertisement for Malawi,\u201d Nicolau said.<\/p>\n

One of the people, who attended the event, Margaret Kalindekafe said she had a great time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have enjoyed the night. I wasn\u2019t expecting this. I just want to thank TNM and Blantyre Sports Club for the event. People always anticipate fireworks during Christmas,\u201d Kalindekafe said.<\/p>\n

TNM\u2019s Senior Manager (Business Services) Limbani Nsapato said the event on Friday provided a lively atmosphere to engage with their customers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a great night and was more about reliving the two historical events bonfire and fireworks and TNM as a fun loving brand thought of engaging with our customers,\u201d Nsapato said.<\/p>\n

He said the event provided a chilling environment for them as a brand to reach out to their customers and that the turnout was good.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were some rain drizzles but fans stayed around and partied,\u201d Nsapato said.<\/p>\n

On music performances, Mizu Band was the first to hit the stage with female singer Eunice Kadzuwa Mhango leading the vocals while fellow vocalist JJ missed out as he is reportedly sick.<\/p>\n

Some instrumentalists were also missing for the group.<\/p>\n

Kadzuwa Mhango had a tough time doing some of the heavy songs that are mostly led by JJ.<\/p>\n

Mizu Band dished out cover songs on the night.<\/p>\n

Theo was next and he excited the audience with his performance which was however, short.<\/p>\n

Some of the songs he dished out included Maybe Tomorrow <\/em>which is in his latest album The White Elephant.<\/p>\n

TNM pumped in K3.5 million for the organisation of the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
