A group of Chinese medical doctors from Kamuzu Central Hospital conducted mobile clinics in Chiradzulu District on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The initiative which was coordinated by the Chinese Ambassador to Malawi Shi- Ting Wang, was aimed at bringing highly qualified doctors to local masses to improve health service delivery.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the unveiling of the initiative, Shi Ting said the government of China is committed to developing the country and ensuring that the health of people is improved.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe productivity of the nation is determined by the health of its citizens. Chiradzulu East remains isolated from the district hospital. That\u2019s why we have brought these highly qualified Chinese doctors that are working at Kamuzu Central Hospital. The six doctors will be providing free diagnosis and treatment to the people for the whole today to improve their lives,\u201d Shi Ting said.<\/p>\n
The mobile clinic received overwhelming response as many locals thronged to Chimwankhunda School to get tested and treated for various diseases.<\/p>\n
Among other interventions, the Chinese ambassador launched a borehole that his mission has constructed at the school.<\/p>\n
He also donated to the school a laptop, ten Huawei smart phones, 200 school bags, 20 balls, 10 pieces of clothes, soaps, 20 solar panels and 100 towels.<\/p>\n
Member of Parliament for the area who is also Minister of Labour, Sports and Manpower Development, Henry Mussa, thanked the Chinese Ambassador for the intervention.<\/p>\n
He said the borehole was a timely intervention as the school was operating without potable water despite having an enrollment of 1,606 learners.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis borehole is a life-saving intervention. It will be the source of potable water to the learners at this school and the community surrounding this area. Water is life. Chinese projects are conspicuously visible thoughout the country and that drives home the point that China remains Malawi\u2019s greatest friend,\u201d Mussa said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
