{"id":35797,"date":"2016-11-18T08:57:05","date_gmt":"2016-11-18T06:57:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=35797"},"modified":"2016-11-18T08:57:07","modified_gmt":"2016-11-18T06:57:07","slug":"ensemble-travelling-theatre-brings-new-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/11\/18\/ensemble-travelling-theatre-brings-new-production\/","title":{"rendered":"Ensemble Travelling Theatre brings new production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Blantyre-based theatre group Ensemble Travelling Theatre is set to launch its 2016 production <em>Thorns in the heart <\/em>at The Block formerly Lucky Luciano\u2019s, along the Chikwawa Road on November 27.<\/p>\n<p>One of the members of the group Chicco Makina said they were now ready with their production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2013 we had our first show at Nanzikambe Arts Space and the title was <em>The Broken Convenant<\/em>. The new play is focusing on the issue of the abduction and killing of people with albinism and we actually have an albino in the cast,\u201d Makina said.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the people starring in the production are Hilda Macheso, Denzel Mathala, Bright Seyani, Noel Nakoma, Silvia Khololo and Elizabeth Nkhoma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not a new group but we still consider ourselves new in the theatre circles because the members are made up of young but talented actors. Most of the actors are doing their studies in different universities,\u201d Makina said.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the group was established in 2013 with the aim of exposing hidden talents among the youth by staging English productions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll we want is to showcase our talents as young people but also at the same time use drama to disseminate different information to the society. We will always strive that our productions should be informative, educative and entertaining,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>On the latest production, Makina said realising how bad people with albinism are being treated in the country, they thought of adding to the several voices that have come out from the creative industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have produced a play which is bemoaning this evil of abducting and killing people living with albinism. We are all one in the image of God and so why do we kill each other?. The play is carrying a real life situation which is all about educating the society,\u201dMakina said.<\/p>\n<p>He said after launching the play at The Block, they will take the play to other places.<\/p>\n<p>In the play one Mr Mbwalo is murdered by a group of thugs that come to abduct her daughter Masozi, who is an albino.<\/p>\n<p>And few weeks after the incident, the attackers come again and this time they succeed in abducting Masozi.<\/p>\n<p>Something happens later which ends up bringing the attackers to justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Blantyre-based theatre group Ensemble Travelling Theatre is set to launch its 2016 production Thorns in the heart at The Block formerly Lucky Luciano\u2019s, along the Chikwawa Road on November 27.
