{"id":35692,"date":"2016-11-17T10:21:24","date_gmt":"2016-11-17T08:21:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=35692"},"modified":"2016-11-17T10:21:25","modified_gmt":"2016-11-17T08:21:25","slug":"let-ka-jive-season-iii-begin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/11\/17\/let-ka-jive-season-iii-begin\/","title":{"rendered":"Let Ka Jive Season III begin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dance is the hidden language of the soul so says Martha Graham an American modern dancer and choreographer whose influence on dance has been compared with the influence of Pablo Picasso on visual arts.<\/p>\n<p>And it is in this vein that Times Group through Times Television decided to give the art of dancing a platform by creating the Ka Jive Dance competition running under the slogan <em>Tivine Zimenezi. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>The competition has been successful in Season I and II producing winners in Blantyre-based groups Metics Street and Twist Dance Crews, who pocketed K1 million and K1.5 million respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The success of the contest over the two seasons has compelled Airtel Malawi, which oiled Ka Jive Season II with K4 million to continue its partnership and this time around pumping in K6 million in Season III.<\/p>\n<p>Airtel Malawi unveiled the K6 million sponsorship at its offices in Limbe, Blantyre yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The mobile company\u2019s Marketing Director Emmanuel Kasambala said they were happy to partner Times Group once again in Ka Jive Season III.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Airtel Malawi, we champion the fulfillment of one\u2019s potential and celebrate talent. It is unbeatable and you may surely agree with me that Malawi is a country blessed with rich, diverse cultures, traditions and talent,\u201d Kasambala said.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cAnd of course, one cannot applaud talent and our rich culture without acknowledging the glue that binds this diversity together, which is art, specifically the art of dance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kasambala said that dance is an expressive art that is depicted through different genres and appreciated by vast numbers of people far and wide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is for this reason that we are proud to announce today that we will for the third time since its inception, be sponsoring the third season of the Times TV Ka Jive Dance competition to the increased tune of K6 million,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Airtel Malawi Marketing Director said the talent and commitment that \u201cwe saw demonstrated in the past two seasons of Ka Jive competition was a manifestation of the attitude Airtel Malawi wants the youths in the country to have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that as a youthful brand, their support to the competition is a testament to their commitment to celebrating, developing and empowering the youth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is our hope that through this competition, the nation will once again be reminded that dance is an art that should aptly be celebrated and rewarded,\u201d Kasambala said.<\/p>\n<p>So fasten your seat belts, the Ka Jive Dance competition Season III is back and the winner is expected to walk away with K2 million.<\/p>\n<p>There is no splitting of the prize money according to Times Group Chief Commercial Manager Dumisani Ngulube but rather its winner takes it all.<\/p>\n<p>Ngulube was over the moon with Airtel Malawi\u2019s bequest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t contain the excitement, as Times Group we are excited but on behalf of the youth of Malawi. We have been looking forward to this and we would like to thank Airtel Malawi for this huge gesture,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ngulube said the sponsorship will energise the dance competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur target is the youth; their potential should get the platform. We have great dances and we have seen great dancing skills and we are happy that through Ka Jive art of dancing is now being recognised by the corporate world,\u201d Ngulube said.<\/p>\n<p>The competition has even expanded as in Season III it will involve the four major cities of Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Zomba.<\/p>\n<p>Ngulube said there are lots of new things on the ground in Season III citing among others use of Airtel Money as mode of payment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also not going to have too many eliminations in every region. We are going to have 13 episodes of Ka Jive meaning once we do auditions at regional level, we will move to elimination show which will happen twice in each region and then the grand finale,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ngulube also said that they have changed the production format and that this time they are focusing on critical point.<\/p>\n<p>Auditions for Season III of the competition starts on November 26 at the Great Hall in Zomba and the contest will run for four months with weekly prizes expected for patrons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dance is the hidden language of the soul so says Martha Graham an American modern dancer and choreographer whose influence on dance has been compared with the influence of Pablo Picasso on visual arts.
