Veteran golfer, Stallard Mpata, defied all odds to win TNM Invitational Enterprise Business Golf Tournament played on individual stablefold format at Lilongwe Golf Club on Saturday.<\/p>\n
On a hot afternoon, the 74-year-old defeated 70 seasoned golfers when he counted out Gracium Chima on 37 points.<\/p>\n
Chima finished second whereas Medson Loka came third with 36 points.<\/p>\n
Mpata was exci ted with his exploits and hailed TNM for sponsoring the tournament.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe golf course was good. From the beginning, I realised that I would be the champion. I play golf on a daily basis,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In the ladies\u2019 category, Jochebed Mpanga continued with her impressive form when she emerged as the champion with 40 points. Sandra Komakech came second with 36 points.<\/p>\n
Champions in each category received LTE outdoor unit with 20GB, runners-up got LTE indoor with 10GB whereas the third placed golfers went away with RedMi Note2 handset.<\/p>\n
TNM\u2019s Chief Officer-Enterprise Services, Vishwajeet Deshmukh, said the 2016 golf season was exciting and entertaining.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur main purpose was to engage the golfing community and interact with them. We are really excited because we received an overwhelming response from the golfers,\u201d Deshmukh said.<\/p>\n
