Veteran musician Paul Banda on Friday night performed at Mustang Sally in Blantyre where he entertained the audience.<\/p>\n
The old-timer, who jumped on stage at exactly 11am and performed for close to an hour called on artists in the country to take time out to perform in different venues and not restrict themselves.<\/p>\n
Some quarters were surprised that the veteran musician performed at Mustang Sally but Paul described it as a good venue.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a good place; I didn\u2019t know there was such a good place in Blantyre. What I have realised is that as artists sometimes we restrict ourselves too much when it comes to venues and yet we are artists for all people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Paul said he was happy with the support he received.<\/p>\n
During the show, Paul, who was backed by Mingoli Band led by drummer McDonald Muwawa started off with a new song Dalitsani Anawa <\/em>before moving on to another old songs which was unfamiliar to people.<\/p>\n \u201cI am working on an album which met some difficulties but I am through now and its title track is Dalitsani Anawa <\/em>which was the first song I played,\u201d Paul said.<\/p>\n He said he has more songs under his belt and that sometimes he is restricted but this time he decided to fish out some songs and that this is the trend he will be doing.<\/p>\n Paul then moved on to the usual songs which people are familiar with but it was Malilime <\/em>which was the anthem of the night.<\/p>\n Some fans started singing the song as Paul was getting to the stage and they demanded it from the word go.<\/p>\n He had to plead with them that he plays other songs before dishing out Malilime <\/em>which he played it twice by public demand.<\/p>\n The Zonse Nzabwino <\/em>creator also took time out to take photographs with people after his performance but also sign autographs.<\/p>\n Before Paul\u2019s performance, Mingoli Band entertained the audience dishing out cover songs.<\/p>\n They are a matured group with veterans such as Manyozo Tchado on lead guitar, Godfrey Mbizi on bass and Elivacy Muyaba on vocals but they need to test themselves by creating their own songs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Veteran musician Paul Banda on Friday night performed at Mustang Sally in Blantyre where he entertained the audience.
