{"id":35137,"date":"2016-11-08T12:48:11","date_gmt":"2016-11-08T10:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=35137"},"modified":"2016-11-08T12:48:12","modified_gmt":"2016-11-08T10:48:12","slug":"escom-migrates-76000-clients-to-prepaid-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/11\/08\/escom-migrates-76000-clients-to-prepaid-system\/","title":{"rendered":"Escom migrates 76,000 clients to prepaid system"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) has said it has migrated 76,310 customers from postpaid to prepaid billing system.<\/p>\n<p>Escom\u2019s Public Relations Officer, George Mituka, disclosed this in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>Mituka, however, said Escom is remaining with over 50,000 customers on postpaid system.<\/p>\n<p>He said the project is progressing well, adding that the public should know that the project is being implemented for free and as such they should not be asked to pay anything.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo far, the project has been a success and customers are happy with it. Customers should be assured that the project will only finish when all targeted customers are migrated as planned. They should also be aware that migration to prepaid is free of charge,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mituka further said 90,975 customers with conventional prepaid meters have been replaced with new split prepaid meters.<\/p>\n<p>Escom introduced prepaid meters as one way of improving efficiency in its revenue collection.<\/p>\n<p>The project which will cost K11 billion is expected to be completed by December 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) has said it has migrated 76,310 customers from postpaid to prepaid billing system.
