After seven years of asking, Ntopwa Super Boyz have finally qualified for the FMB Under-20 National finals after emerging regional champions at Chiwembe Stadium on Saturday.<\/p>\n
During the regional finals that attracted champions from Zomba, Red Lions, and Mangochi champions, Mbudye Academy, Ntopwa won two games to book their national ticket.<\/p>\n
In the first game during the round-robin, Mtopwa beat Red Lions Youth 1-0 through Mphatso Magaleta\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n
In the second game, Ntopwa beat Mbudye Academy 3-2. Mark Mathew scored a brace and Magaleta was also on target.<\/p>\n
Wilson Jumbe of Mbudye also scored a brace but it was not enough to stop 10-man Ntopwa from progressing.<\/p>\n
In a second-place play-off, Mbudye beat Red Lions Youth 1-0 with a goal from Arnold Kadzuwa.<\/p>\n
Ntopwa\u2019s Coach, Enos Chatama, said he was delighted to inspire the side to their first ever national finals.<\/p>\n
\u201cI came here to share the knowledge I have acquired. Last season the team was on position nine, but this year we have won the Blantyre District and Regional championship to qualify for the national finals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mbudye\u2019s Coach, Alfred Kabichi, blamed his team\u2019s loss on poor officiation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe referees were poor otherwise we could have done better,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
FMB\u2019s Head of Marketing, Sylvia Mataka, said they were excited with the progress of the competition since it started seven years ago.<\/p>\n
