Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has kept under wraps the identity of outgoing General Secretary, Suzgo Nyirenda\u2019s replacement.<\/p>\n
Nyirenda, who has served Fam for 11 years, has secured the post of Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Council of Southern African Football Associations (Cosafa) in South Africa.<\/p>\n
Fam Vice-President, James Mwenda, yesterday declined to confirm if Gunda\u2019s name was proposed during the association\u2019s Executive Committee meeting held in Mzuzu over the weekend.<\/p>\n
\u201cI cannot disclose what we discussed. The president [Walter Nyamilandu] is going to release a statement on every detail, ranging from the new Flames\u2019 coach to the General Secretary,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Sources indicate that the meeting settled for Mzuzu University\u2019s (Mzuni) Registrar responsible for administration, Alfred Gunda, as Nyirenda\u2019s replacement.<\/p>\n
Gunda, in a separate interview, yesterday could neither confirm nor deny the reports linking him to the job.<\/p>\n
\u201cI also just heard about it. What I can say is that an appointment is an appointment, but it has not reached me yet. Of course, I was present during the Fam Executive Committee meeting, but this is an issue regarding me as an individual, so I cannot discuss it with another person,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
