{"id":34800,"date":"2016-11-03T10:53:48","date_gmt":"2016-11-03T08:53:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=34800"},"modified":"2016-11-03T10:53:48","modified_gmt":"2016-11-03T08:53:48","slug":"macdonald-chibwe-tackles-albino-killings-abortion-in-new-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/11\/03\/macdonald-chibwe-tackles-albino-killings-abortion-in-new-album\/","title":{"rendered":"Macdonald Chibwe tackles albino killings, abortion in new album"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Blantyre-based musician Macdonald Chibwe is out with a new album titled <em>Mbiri Yanga <\/em>in which he is tackling several issues affecting the society in the country including albino killings and abortion.<\/p>\n<p>The artist, who is an insurer and currently working as the General Manager \u2013 Operations at United General Insurance (UGI), said the album is ready and that it will be released on the market in December.<\/p>\n<p>Chibwe, who released his debut album <em>Lingakome <\/em>in 2013 before he went into hibernation said yesterday that he is now ready to take music head on as it is his passion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome might feel I am just doing this to pass time but this is my passion. I started doing music long time ago and it is an inborn talent despite that I am an insurer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Listening to some of his four promotion songs \u2013 the title track <em>Mbiri Yanga, Ndidzakumvera, Nelia <\/em>and <em>Walira Albino, <\/em>the artist has shown seriousness using his art to bemoan the albino killings and abortion among others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an artist I have a duty to speak about the various issues affecting the society. All I ask is for people to take time and listen attentively to the songs and get the message,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Chibwe said his music has a blend of modern and old touch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have done it deliberately because I want to appeal to all the generations. Again I also want to show that I have been inspired by musicians such as Thomas Chibade, Skeffa Chimoto and Joseph Nkasa,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Just like his debut album, Mbiri Yanga which has 12 songs was recorded at CL Touch Studio in Blantyre by Limbani Chibwana.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love reggae and so some of the songs have that reggae touch but I have also fused some songs with other genres. Being a fan of reggae I have also worked with Ralph Ching\u2019amba in one of the songs titled Tingathe,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the track <em>Mbiri Yanga, <\/em>Chibwe talks about the journey he has travelled to be where he is today and goes on to encourage those who are experiencing different challenges not to give up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the song Tingathe I am talking about the economic issues and all I am saying is that we just need to work hard, be focused and this nation will move forward.
