The country\u2019s South Africa-based singer Erik Paliani will perform in Maputo, Mozambique tonight where he is set to introduce his album.<\/p>\n
According to a poster, on the artist\u2019s Facebook page, the show will be held at Gil Vicente Caf\u00e9 Bar.<\/p>\n
Paliani said yesterday that the performance was a collaboration with Mozambican musicians.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a new wave of jazz in Mozambique. For the past 10 years a great number of Mozambican musicians, who mostly studied at the University of Cape Town in South Africa have been encouraged to come back home,\u201d Paliani said.<\/p>\n
He added that this enabled them in South Africa to be able to perform with the right musicians and technical support.<\/p>\n
\u201c So in Mozambique I am introducing my album but we are also going to add a lot of what we call the music coming from both sides of the lake, us Malawians and Mozambique,\u201d said the guitarist.<\/p>\n
The artist, who is best known for his work with singer South African musicians Zamajobe Sithole and jazz maestro Hugh Masekela said that in Mozambique he was also going to see how the Mozambicans have managed to establish matured jazz in a short space.<\/p>\n
Some of the Mozambican musicians he is billed to share the stage with include Texito Langa, who plays the drums and percussionist Samito Tembe.<\/p>\n
Early this year, the Paliani, who has an album Chitukutuku <\/em>to his credit had indicated that he was working on a new album.<\/p>\n Paliani also said recently that having done enough in raising his name in the Rainbow Nation; he now wanted to do more for his country.<\/p>\n In another development Piksy and his Langwani Movement Band as well as Sonye leave the country today for Mozambique for a performance tomorrow.<\/p>\n The Uncle Short One <\/em>and Angozo <\/em>star confirmed of the Mozambique trip yesterday.<\/p>\n \u201cYes it is true we are going to Mozambique for a performance on Saturday tomorrow [and we are leaving tomorrow today].
