{"id":34279,"date":"2016-10-25T09:22:47","date_gmt":"2016-10-25T07:22:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=34279"},"modified":"2016-10-25T09:22:47","modified_gmt":"2016-10-25T07:22:47","slug":"malawi-paralympic-committee-restructures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/10\/25\/malawi-paralympic-committee-restructures\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi Paralympic Committee restructures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To improve its efficiency, Malawi Paralympic Committee (MPC) has formed committees, including for Para Athletics.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from the athletics\u2019 committee, which is charged with talent identification, the others are Power Lifting Committee, Sitting Volleyball Committee and Wheel Chair Basketball Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press briefing at Malawi National Council of Sports\u2019 offices in Blantyre on Saturday, MPC President, James Chiutsi, said the committees will help in reducing the workload when managing several Paralympic disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were over burdened by having to oversee everything. With these committees, specific people who have specific know-how on a particular sporting discipline, will be placed in those committees,\u201d Chiutsi said.<\/p>\n<p>MPC will also launch the Malawi Para Athletics Championship at Montfort School for the Blind in Chiradzulu District later this month.<\/p>\n<p>MPC Chairperson, Joseph Galanje, said the championship will prepare athletes for future competitions.
