Be Forward Wanderers\u2019 first-choice goalkeeper, Richard Chipuwa, shunned Saturday\u2019s TNM Super League game against Premier Bet Wizards, due to alleged death threats.<\/p>\n
Wanderers\u2019 Team Manager, Steve Madeira, confirmed after their 2-0 win over Wizards at Kamuzu Stadium that Chipuwa received the threats following last weekend\u2019s 1-2 loss to Kamuzu Barracks FC in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
Madeira said the threats forced the team to feature Goalkeeper Trainer, Valence Kamzere.<\/p>\n
\u201cI strongly condemn the act by our supporters. I think we need to learn that as a team, we cannot do well all the time. There are times we have to lose and win. Of course, the use of Kamzere did not affect our Saturday\u2019s game because he is a good goalkeeper, but I must admit that I rate Chipuwa highly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Madeira said the technical panel will visit Chipuwa to encourage him to return to the field of play.<\/p>\n
Chipuwa joined Wanderers in the course of the season after his move to Chingale de Tete in Mozambique collapsed due to a contractual disputes.<\/p>\n
Wanderers have been rocked with problems as some players boycotted training last week to force their management to pay September\u2019s salaries and allowances.<\/p>\n
Some supporters also called for the resignation of Wanderers\u2019 Executive Committee.<\/p>\n
Wanderers\u2019 vice-chairperson, Gift Mkandawire, said the players were not paid due to the sponsor, Be Forward Limited\u2019s delayed release of the month\u2019s allocation.<\/p>\n
