Many people only knew him as a musician but he was also a producer. I worked with him in several projects and he actually guided me on how to go about with some songs,” said Matumbi.

The Lilongwe based artist, who prides in the trade as the ‘King of Dancehall,’ said he still remembers the song ‘Timakhala ku Blantyre,’ which he did with late Kasache where they were responding to Peter Mawanga’s track ‘Amakhala ku Blantyre.’

In ‘Amakhala ku Blantyre,’ Mawanga’s sings of the hard life that people experience in the commercial city of Blantyre further saying that one can hardly experience good life without having enough money.

However, late Kasache and Matumbi responded to the song saying they live a better life in the commercial city.

“This is the song that put late Kasache in the limelight. We were not trying to fight the artist who did the original song but we just want to do art for the sake of art hence responding to what he said in the song. We just sat down and when I told him the concept he agreed and there we were with the song,” explained Matumbi.

He said the song impressed many Malawians and enjoyed massive airplay for a short period before it was stopped by the Copyright Society of Malawi (Cosoma).

“This was not the only song I worked with; there are other songs as well. This is why I am saying he was talented. It’s been time since we spoke but we used to interact through the social media and to receive news of his death is shocking. I will miss him, may his soul rest in peace,” he said.

According to his brother Ellard, late Nelson Kasache will be buried tomorrow at his home in the area of Traditional Authority Nchiramwera in Thyolo.

He said late Nelson Kasache was born on 22nd September, 1983.

He worked with several musicians in the country and released close to five albums including Senior Bachelor.

“He was our pillar as a family. We are helpless with his death. Only God knows why it had to happen,” said Ellard revealing that his late brother was on the verge of releasing a gospel album.

Musician Annie Matumbi real name Chiyanjano Muhenzuwa has said he is saddened by the death of musician and producer Nelson Kasache.
