{"id":34108,"date":"2016-10-21T10:22:25","date_gmt":"2016-10-21T08:22:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=34108"},"modified":"2016-10-21T10:22:26","modified_gmt":"2016-10-21T08:22:26","slug":"lilongwe-vendors-get-cement-iron-sheets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/10\/21\/lilongwe-vendors-get-cement-iron-sheets\/","title":{"rendered":"Lilongwe vendors get cement, iron sheets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost a month after fire destroyed Lilongwe Central Market, about 6,000 vendors who were affected by the inferno continue getting assistance from well-wishers.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday Lilongwe Asian Business Community (LABC) handed over 600 bags of cement and 3,000 iron sheets worth about K15 million, to be used in rebuilding the market.<\/p>\n<p>This follows a promise the association made after the inferno.<\/p>\n<p>The association\u2019s leader, Yusuf Abubaker said they thought of helping the vendors, after learning about the accident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know how painful it is for people to lose business. We promised to help. It therefore gives us a sense of pride that our aid will help our fellow brothers in returning to business. It was a massive task of raising the money. We are happy that we have honoured our promise,\u201d Abubaker said.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary for Lilongwe Central Market, Daniel Kamara said they will discuss how best they will use the donation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know it may be difficult to share what has been donated. We will just find a project that we will all benefit from,\u201d Kamara said.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Commerce at Lilongwe City Council, Genscher M\u2019bwabwa, thanked the association for the support they have given the vendors.
