Former Malawi National Football Team coaches, Ernest Mtawali and Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan, are set to reunite during a Confederation of African Football (Caf) A-Licence Coaching course.<\/p>\n
However, despite Malawi now boasting over 60 coaches with Caf A and B licences, there are questions as to why domestic football, and indeed the Flames, are not improving tactically.<\/p>\n
Nonetheless, Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Technical Director (TD), John Kaputa, said the course, scheduled from October 31 to December 12 at Mpira Village in Blantyre, will attract 35 participants.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a 30-day course which has been divided into two modules. Each module will run for 15 days with a break in between. I am currently drafting invitation letters for participants,\u201d Kaputa told Fam\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
The participants include other former Flames\u2019 coaches, Kinnah Phiri, Patrick Mabedi, Jack Chamangwana and Young Chimodzi. Kaputa and Caf instructors will take charge of the course.<\/p>\n
Kaputa said it will take time for the highly-qualified coaches to impart the knowledge to their respective teams, adding that success in coaching also requires a conducive environment.<\/p>\n
He cited Blue Eagles\u2019 coach, Derklerk Msakakuona, who has a Caf A-Licence, saying he has proved himself with the TNM Super League team and Cosafa Youth Cup-bronze winning Malawi Under-17 National Football Team.<\/p>\n
\u201cApart from coaching, you also need to look at the quality of the players, management of the teams and quality of the pitches. If you have team training at MDC Stadium today and Blantyre Sports Club tomorrow then this affects the performance of the teams,\u201d Kaputa said.<\/p>\n
In an interview yesterday, Kaputa said the course was open to coaches who hold Caf B licences or its equivalent.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey have B licences which are expiring and need to be renewed through a refresher course. Instead of renewing it, one can go for a higher badge, which is the Caf A-Licence,\u201d Kaputa said.<\/p>\n
He further said the next Caf B Licence coaching course will be held in March with targeted participants such as Mafco\u2019s Thomas Maloya, Peter Mponda for Premier Bet Wizards, Bullets\u2019 assistant coach, Mabvuto Lungu and ex-Be Forward Wanderers\u2019 deputy mentor, Elia Kananji.<\/p>\n
Other students earmarked for the course are Nyasa Big Bullets\u2019 Lloyd Nkhwazi, Edson Mwafulirwa, Collins Nkuna, Franco Ndawa, Leonard Mpulula, Bob Mpinganjira, Gerald Phiri, Gilbert Chirwa, Alick Chirwa, Alex ngwira, Meke Mwase, Mcdonald Mtetemera, Mike Kumanga, Lovemore Fazili and Mcnerbert Kadzuwa.<\/p>\n
Ndawa yesterday said even though he holds an A-Licence acquired from the Germany Football Federation, he might consider attending Fam\u2019s course.<\/p>\n
However, with some Super League teams aiming to avoid the Super League relegation and others eyeing the championship, it remains to be seen if clubs would release their head coaches for the course.<\/p>\n
Little wonder, Silver Strikers\u2019 coach, Chimodzi, Thursday reserved his comment on his inclusion on the course, saying he was not aware of it.<\/p>\n
