IT is not every day that one likes a headache of some sort, but Malawi National Netball Team coach, Griffin Saenda, is glad to have one.<\/p>\n
Saenda, recalled to restore the Netball Queens\u2019 battered pride, faces an unenviable task of selecting just 10 players from a 21-member squad, which is fine-tuning for the Fast5 Netball World Series scheduled for Australia at the end of the month.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a difficult task to choose the final squad, but it is one I have to do. The squad should be out probably by Friday. We are now in the last stages of the training focusing on shooting. If our shooters cannot shoot, then we will be in trouble,\u201d the veteran mentor said yesterday.<\/p>\n
There are still question marks about the fitness of players such as Tigresses\u2019 Sindi Simtowe- Msowoya, who has been battling with an injury, and Kukoma Diamonds\u2019 want-away attacker, Lauren Ngwira.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will see if Lauren will make it on Friday. Sindi is also still in the piActure, so let us wait and see on Friday,\u201d Saenda said.<\/p>\n
The forthcoming tournament, scheduled for Hisense Arena in Melbourne from October 29 to 30, offers the Queens a fresh chance to defeat old foe, South Africa.<\/p>\n
Of course, there are also giants such as New Zealand, Jamaica and Australia and England to worry about.<\/p>\n
South Africa, who are ranked number one in Africa and fifth in the world, head to Australia in confident mode having hosted and won the invitational Diamonds Challenge Cup following a 64- 38 win over Zimbabwe in the final played on Wednesday at the University of Durban Westville Court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
