M\u2019mbelwa District Council has accused former Vice President, Khumbo Kachali, of undermining the council\u2019s decision that stopped him from constructing a structure closing the road that connects to a main road at Mzimba Boma.<\/p>\n
Chairperson for the Development Committee at the council, Councillor Fumu Mudolo, told The Daily Times <\/em>yesterday that his committee wrote Kachali stopping him from continuing with extension of a commercial building as the project blocked a car park.<\/p>\n Mudolo said a full council meeting agreed to suspend construction activities at the boma to pave way for his committee to come up with proper infrastructure planning.<\/p>\n However, Kachali said the Councillor has a personal grudge against him.<\/p>\n \u201cWe asked him [Kachali] to temporarily stop his project. However, he did not respond. We do not know where he is getting powers to undermine the council\u2019s decision. He has moved in many countries in the world and he knows the importance of roads in towns. Why is he inconveniencing his own people by blocking the road,\u201d Mudolo queried.<\/p>\n He added that Kachali started the project without getting approval from the council.<\/p>\n However, Kachali downplayed the accusation arguing that he followed proper procedures to develop the area.<\/p>\n He said his project is monitored by officials from the office of the District Commissioner (DC) and Department of Lands and Survey.<\/p>\n \u201cI cannot waste my time fighting with a councillor on this issue. I got his communication over my project but I ignored it because it was not signed by the DC. What I know is that proper procedures were followed both at the District Council and Regional Lands and Survey levels.
