Zomba-based outfit Po\u00adlice Orchestra delivered a spirited performance that rekindled memories of their past exploits during a Mothers\u2019 Day Eve concert held at Motel Paradise in Blantyre.<\/p>\n
The show, organised by Entertainers Promotions led by Tonderai Banda, started on Mother\u2019s Day Eve and spilled over to Mothers\u2019 Day.<\/p>\n
By 10 o\u2019clock at night, the Motel Paradise Hall was not fully parked but people started trickling in later, and by the time Chileka-based group Black Missionaries and Anthony Makondetsa were perform\u00ading the venue was packed.<\/p>\n
The show started on a low note before hitting a crescendo with the perfor\u00admance of Police Orchestra.<\/p>\n
The group moved people with their songs that kept them on the dance floor throughout as others sang along.<\/p>\n
Police Orchestra\u2019s dished out songs such as Mayinesi <\/em>and Anthu Achenje.<\/p>\n By the time the group was finishing their perfor\u00admance, some people want\u00aded them to continue but time was up as they paved way for Dan Lufani.<\/p>\n The only setback for Po\u00adlice Orchestra is that they came for this concert in civilian attire which was somehow unfamiliar as they are used to perform whilst dressed in their po\u00adlice band uniform.<\/p>\n In the absence of some members such as keyboard\u00adist Kalinga Moda, the group still did well on the night.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are excited as a group to have a perfor\u00admance at this Mothers\u2019 Day Eve show. We enjoyed the moment and we thank En\u00adtertainers Promotions for giving us a platform. Some people still feel Police Orchestra is dead but the group is alive and we are currently working on new songs,\u201d said lead guitarist Andy Kamangwa.<\/p>\n He said through music they would want to show\u00adcase their talent but also disseminate different mes\u00adsages.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want people not to be afraid of police officers and through this platform we want them to realise that we should work together,\u201d Kamangwa said.<\/p>\n Dan Lu also did well on the night performing for some time before paving way for Anthony Makon\u00addetsa.<\/p>\n The Part of Life <\/em>creator also took advantage of the show to announce that his Sweet Banana <\/em>launch with Nigerian star Kcee would take place at Lilongwe Golf Club on November 6.<\/p>\n The line up of the songs he offered included Shupie, Sorry <\/em>and Sweet Banana. <\/em><\/p>\n Black Missionaries closed the chapter on the night but having performed for some time, their set suf\u00adfered a setback when power went off.<\/p>\n Fans were disappointed and some walked out while others remained as the or\u00adganisers worked on the generator to restore power.<\/p>\n But it was too late and this marked the end of the show.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are satisfied with the show and the turnout. All we wanted was to give mothers a treat and we are happy they have gone home satisfied.
