Malawi\u2019s South Africa-based boxer Isaac \u201cGolden Boy\u201d Chilemba has promised to make a triumphant return to the ring when he faces Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk next month in Las Vegas, USA.<\/p>\n
Chilemba lost his last fight on points to Russian Sergey Kovalev in July but was hailed for a spirited show against the Russian famed for his merciless knockout wins.<\/p>\n
According to sowetanlive. co.za, <\/em>Chilemba\u2019s bout against inexperienced Gvozdyk at T-Mobile Arena on November 11 will be on the same bill where Kovalev will defend his title against American Andre Ward.<\/p>\n The 29-year-old Blantyre-born pugilist said: \u201cI\u2019m grateful to be on this HBO card. I\u2019m up against unbeaten fighter Oleksandr Gvozdyk who is a good fighter. He has a good amateur background and he is a highly-rated fighter. Pressure is on me, I know I\u2019m going in with everything to lose but very little to gain.\u201d<\/p>\n Gvozdyk, who has 11 wins from as many boxing matches, is rated fourth by the World Boxing Council (WBC), ninth by the World Boxing Organisation and tenth by the International Boxing Federation.<\/p>\n Chilemba is a former African Boxing Union (ABU) and International Boxing Organisation super middle weight champion who also went on to win the World Boxing Organisation- Africa, ABU and WBC International light heavyweight titles.<\/p>\n WBC ranks Chilemba on position 10 with his 24 wins in 30 bouts.<\/p>\n The Malawian said he would work with Roy Jones Jnr who is one of the best pound-for-pound boxers of all time for his fight against Gvozdyk.<\/p>\n \u201cHe is my idol, a person I always looked up to and can learn from,\u201d said Chilemba of the American who was the undisputed light heavyweight champion in 1999 by unifying the WBA, WBC and IBF titles.<\/p>\n Jones also held the WBA heavyweight strap in 2003, becoming the first former middleweight champion to win a heavyweight title in 106 years.<\/p>\n \u201cIt will be awesome and a huge opportunity for me to train with him and have him in my corner. Not only that he is the greatest, but he seems to care and has lots of love for the game.
