{"id":33757,"date":"2016-10-15T14:47:45","date_gmt":"2016-10-15T12:47:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=33757"},"modified":"2016-10-15T14:47:46","modified_gmt":"2016-10-15T12:47:46","slug":"3-drivers-jailed-for-endangering-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/10\/15\/3-drivers-jailed-for-endangering-life\/","title":{"rendered":"3 drivers jailed for endangering life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nkhotakota First Grade Magistrate&#8217;s Court on October 11 2016 sentenced three drivers to 14 months imprisonment with hard labour for endangering life.<\/p>\n<p>Nkhotakota Police spokesperson Williams Kaponda said the three convicts, Emanuel Matumba, 26, Joseph Chakanyuka, 30, and Bakali Chapola, 28, were both arrested around Nkhotakota Trading Centre on October 10 2016.<\/p>\n<p>He said the drivers were found carrying passengers on open motor vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The three were arrested by traffic police officers while doing the motor vehicle routine checks.<\/p>\n<p>They were found to be in contravention of Section 237 of the Penal Code.<\/p>\n<p>Kaponda said in September alone, Nkhotakota registered 37 accidents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nkhotakota First Grade Magistrate&#8217;s Court on October 11 2016 sentenced three drivers to 14 months imprisonment with hard labour for endangering life.
