Karonga United missed an opportunity to move out of the relegation zone after they were held 1-1 by Premier Bet Wizards in a TNM Super League\u2019s survival battle at Mzuzu Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n
In a post-match interview, Karonga\u2019s Coach, Kondwani Mwalweni, could not hide his frustration with the result.<\/p>\n
\u201cI f you were watching the game, you can agree with me that the referee was one-sided. She made one or two bad decisions that cost us a victory. Otherwise, my team played well. We deserved to win and I believe that those wins will come our way in subsequent [league] matches,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Karonga remain on position 14 with 18 points from 20 games, while Wizards are above them with 19 points, level with Civo United from the same number of games.<\/p>\n
Wizards\u2019 Technical Director, Peter Mponda, was satisfied with the away point.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t play our usual [passing] game today because we were feeling the pressure since we did not want to lose the match,\u201d Mponda said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Karonga United were the ones who desperately needed victory than us because they were at their own backyard. It is a good point for us considering that we were playing away from home.\u201d<\/p>\n
Karonga took an early lead courtesy of defender Hygiene Mwandepeka\u2019s free-kick from 35 metres, just 10 minutes into the game.<\/p>\n
But Wizards\u2019 second-half substitute, Hendrix Misinde, equalised in the 80th minute to deny Karonga their fifth league win of the season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
