Be Forward Wanderers\u2019 appetite for foreign players is set to continue as they are arranging to sign a Cameroonian goalkeeper this week.<\/p>\n
Wanderers\u2019 Assistant Coach, Elia Kananji, confirmed that Etoga Noah Hamza impressed them in the two days he trained with the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is easy to know if a player is good. It takes just a few touches of the ball. We have recommended to the executive committee that he should be taken on board,\u201d Kananji said.<\/p>\n
The goal minder claimed that he was a second choice goalkeeper for Sunshine Stars in Nigeria until May this year when an agent took him for trials in the United Arab Emirates where a purported deal with an unnamed club turned out to be non-existent.<\/p>\n
He said the last club he played for in Cameroon was Dragone FC before he joined a football academy in Lagos, Nigeria, which loaned him out to Nigeria Premier League side, Sunshine Stars.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile back home in Cameroon, I was in a squad of our national Under-20 team. I was told about a team looking for a goalkeeper in Malawi in May but I was a bit hesitant to start off. It took some encouragement from friends and relatives for me to come over and see what is here,\u201d explained Hamza, who claims to be aged 23.<\/p>\n
Wanderers Vice- Chairperson,Gift Mkandawire, said Hamza might be signed this week to beef up the Nomads\u2019 goalkeeping department.<\/p>\n
He stated that the club wants to raise a team capable of challenging for honours in continental competitions such as the Caf Champions League.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have reached a stage where the local game is becoming saturated. We feel that the foreign players can bring in certain elements that we can benefit from. We are signing Hamza as a free agent since he is not attached to any club,\u201d Mkandawire said.<\/p>\n
