Super League of Malawi (Sulom) says preparation for Saturday\u2019s Blantyre derby between Be Forward Wanderers and Nyasa Bullets are through with both teams settling for match-day ticket selling system.<\/p>\n
Sulom General Secretary, Williams Banda, said the decision was made during a preparatory meeting held in Blantyre on Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the first round, fans paid K2,000 to access open stands and this time, both teams agreed that it should be reduced by K500. So they are paying K1, 500 for the open stands, K3, 000 for the covered stands, while those for the VIP will part ways with K5, 000,\u201d Banda said.<\/p>\n
Bullets\u2019 General Secretary, Kelvin Moyo, confirmed the arrangement.<\/p>\n
\u201cTeams make a lot of money from the open stands because that is where many fans sit compared to the other stands,\u201d Moyo said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, apart from the teams\u2019 economic gain, we should also consider the economic hardships in the country. Some people save for almost a week just to manage pay for the open stands. We, therefore, need to give them a chance to watch the games.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that the first round derby had few fans which also led to a reduction in revenue.<\/p>\n
However, Banda said the decision to sale tickets on the gates was made to avoid leakages.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are lots of loopholes in advance ticket selling and this does not benefit teams and other stakeholders,\u201d Banda added.<\/p>\n
During the first round encounter, Wanderers held Bullets to a one-all draw.<\/p>\n
