Premier Bet Wizards\u2019 Technical Director, Peter Mponda, has insisted that his team is making progress in the fulfilment of Club Licensing System requirements.<\/p>\n
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) is enforcing the requirements, which include the hiring of a coach holding a minimum of a Caf B Licence for a Super League team.<\/p>\n
However, Mponda, who is a holder of a Caf C Licence, has been coaching Wizards since last season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are making strides to ensure that we fulfil the requirements. However, people dwell much on the coach, but they must realise that there are a lot of things that need to be done and we have done all that. We have our own stadium whereas some big teams in the league do not have one. We have good administration,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The former national team defender, however, refused to disclose the coach they have earmarked for hiring. He earlier suggested either Heather Mkumbaleza or Abel Mkandawire for the post.<\/p>\n
\u201cFam should be considerate when introducing new things. Teams were just caught by surprise, no wonder, most teams are failing to fulfil the requirements. If teams that are considered big and with good sponsorship are failing to do that, how do you expect new and small teams to manage the same?\u201d Mponda wondered.<\/p>\n
Apart from Mponda, Wizards\u2019 coaching panel comprises former Flames\u2019 players, MacDonald Yobe and Fundi Akidu as Assistant Coach and Team Manager respectively, but they do not possess the minimum qualifications.<\/p>\n
Wizards are not safe from another relegation battle as they are on position 13 on the log table.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, the Mponda side face Karonga United at Mzuzu Stadium.<\/p>\n
Wizards were relegated from the league last season but returned after the play-offs involving Airborne Rangers and Dedza Young Soccer to identify the 16th team to join the elite league this season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
