Mafco FC\u2019s prolific forward, Richard Mbulu, has been offered a four-year deal by Portuguese side, Sporting Club de Esmoriz, it has been established.<\/p>\n
But the forward will only join the Second Division club when the transfer window opens next January, Mafco Chairperson, Richard Chagonapanja, on Tuesday confirmed.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis contract starts when the transfer window opens in January 2017. Furthermore, his contract details are with the Malawi Defence Force\u2019s (MDF) Legal Department, who also advised us to ask Mr. Bruno Mogado [Portugal club agent] to consider reviewing his contract\u2019s conditions such as monthly income, medical insurance and signing-on fee and he has not yet reverted [to us],\u201d Chagonapanja explained in a written response.<\/p>\n
Chagonapanja could not disclose how much the Portuguese club was offering the lethal forward in signing-on fee and salary.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are putting fees\u2019 issues close to our chest until the deal is sealed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to the chairperson, MDF has given the player the green light to join the Portuguese club, provided all procedures are followed.<\/p>\n
If he joins the Portuguese side, Mbulu will be the second Malawian player in Europe after Tawonga Chimodzi, who is currently in the books of Cypriot team.<\/p>\n
Mbulu, who won the Presidential Cup Golden Boot Award with 19 goals\u2014eight of which he scored in a single game, is the TNM Super League\u2019s leading scorer with 13 goals from 19 games.<\/p>\n
He was also linked with a move to newly -promoted South African side, Baroka FC, but the deal flopped.<\/p>\n
Recently, the striker was suspended for the rest of the season for allegedly being involved in the fracas involving Mafco and Nyasa Big Bullets\u2019 players at Chitowe Stadium.<\/p>\n
