Malawi will tomorrow commemorate the Global Female Condom Day which will be under the theme \u201cDance4Demand and Access to Female Condoms for the Youth.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Hunger Project Malawi and PSI Malawi are leading in organising the event that will commence with a solidarity walk from Chichiri Shoprite to Blantyre Youth Centre where the function will take place.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development, Henry Musa, is expected to preside over the function.<\/p>\n
HIV and Nutrition Programme Officer at The Hunger Project Malawi, Grace Chikowi, said the day, which falls on September 16 every year, in important because it enlightens people on the importance of female condoms in prevention of HIV\/Aids, other STIs and unplanned pregnancies.<\/p>\n
\u201cFemale condom remains the only woman initiated product for prevention of sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancies,\u201d Chikowi said.<\/p>\n
On this day, Chikowi said, new brands of female condoms will be showcased and a number of interesting activities have been lined up including live music from young artists, Zigzero, Nepman and Big Lu as well as a netball game between Tigresses and Thunder Queens<\/p>\n
\u201cRenowned netballers will take part in promoting the female condom use in Malawi. We are calling on the general public especially the youth to participate in this year\u2019s event,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
