Fifa Envoy has said Malawi is among the countries that have successfully implemented the Fifa-11-For Health programme.<\/p>\n
The project was introduced in the country in 2012 as Fifa wanted to equip its affiliates with social and health skills.<\/p>\n
Regional Project Leader in Africa for Fifa-11-Football Health, David Thiru of Kenya, was in the country to monitor the progress of the project and visited some sites.<\/p>\n
Speaking at Mudi Primary in Lunzu, Blantyre, Thiru said Malawi was among countries, such as Ghana and Kenya, that had successfully implemented the initiative.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe programme is quite beneficial to the community because youngsters learn basic football skills and interpret them with things that happen in the society. I am impressed with how Malawi has implemented the project and the strides that have been made,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Thiru hailed government and Football Association of Malawi (Fam) for supporting the initiative.<\/p>\n
Fam Technical Director, John Kaputa, said the programme had reached 360 primary schools across the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll the stakeholders involved in this year\u2019s project have played a crucial role to reach this far. We have seen a lot of youngsters expressing their interest to join the project,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mudi Primary School sports teachers, David Scova and Sliveria Kambalame, said the project was transforming pupils.<\/p>\n
Pupils at the school, Isaiah Banda and Olivia Chiteno, said they were delighted to be part of the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
