Renowned gospel musician Thocco Katimba of the Anaphi <\/em>fame on Sunday took to the stage to dispel rumours that he dated late Grace Chinga\u2019s daughter Miracle.<\/p>\n

Katimba opened his chest during a show at Squirrels Park in Mzuzu where Miracle Moffat was launching her mother\u2019s album titled Esther. <\/em><\/p>\n

He said this following allegation from some quarters that he once \u201cdated Miracle and impregnated her.\u201d<\/p>\n

The musician even invited his fianc\u00e9e Irene Mmora to the stage for the audience to see her before commenting on the issue of Miracle.<\/p>\n

\u201cI brought forward my fianc\u00e9e Irene, who is currently studying nursing at Mzuzu University because I wanted the audience to see her. She is the woman I am in love with and we are planning to get married next year when she is done with her studies,\u201d Katimba said.<\/p>\n

The musician, who was among the curtainraisers during the launch said he decided to take advantage of his performance to clear the air on the allegations levelled against him by some quarters.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me take this opportunity to clear rumours that have been spreading for the past years. Let me tell you today and please tell your friends out there that I have never dated or impregnated Miracle Chinga Moffat and I am not planning to marry her,\u201d Katimba said during the show.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIn as far as my knowledge is concerned I know that Miracle has never been pregnant. She is just a minor and I know all these rumours have affected her in one way or the other just like it has done to me. To me Miracle is like my daughter or niece because late Grace Chinga was my sister.\u201d<\/p>\n

Katimba called on people to learn to say the truth and avoid spreading false stories.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease brethren lets learn to say the truth and avoid spreading rumours that are only aimed at destroying us your beloved musicians. Please for once learn to love and appreciate us while we are still alive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Katimba in interview on Monday confirmed to have made the remarks adding that the stories affected him and that he decided to clear them by speaking about it.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs artists we appreciate the support that people give us by buying our original CDs and also patronising our shows. We are where we are today because of their support but it is not good when they go out there and start spreading stories that are only meant at damaging our reputation,\u201d Katimba said.<\/p>\n

He said he also felt it was the right time to speak about it because Miracle\u2019s family was present.<\/p>\n

Miracle now 17 years old is currently waiting for the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations\u2019 results.<\/p>\n

She is currently launching her mother\u2019s album Esther. She started it in Blantyre before taking it to Lilongwe and then Mzuzu and all the three shows have received massive audiences.<\/p>\n

Several well wishers have said Miracle has potential to continue her mother\u2019s music journey but she has to tread carefully and also make sure that she finishes her studies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
