The Northern Region Water Board (NRWB) and the Nyika Media Club (NMC) have committed into a long-time partnership as way of reducing corporate misunderstandings.<\/p>\n
NMC is a grouping of about 50 print and electronic journalists based in Mzuzu and surrounding districts in the North.<\/p>\n
The two entities on Friday organised an interface meeting in order to familiarise each other on their core businesses as well as updating members on latest developments.<\/p>\n
Chief Executive Officer for NRWB, Titus Mtegha, echoed that the media remains one of their critical ally in business, hence the need for stronger ties.<\/p>\n
Mtegha said as a responsible corporate citizen, NRWB does not believe in fighting with the media but working together in serving the nation for its socio-economic development.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe depend on corporate support to run our affairs, and the media is one of such partners. We saw the need to interact with our media colleagues because we realise that any corporate misunderstanding with them may culminate into a crisis,\u201d Mtegha said.<\/p>\n
During the interaction, Mtegha and his team seized the opportunity to brief members of the media on the new customer categorisation system which has in the last two months received opposition from its customers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough our collaboration with the media, we would like to jointly sensitise customers in our areas of supply to the system which categorises customers depending on the water facilities in their homes. Together we can make everyone grasp and embrace the new system,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
He then disclosed that the Chitipa Water Project is 80 percent complete and is expected to benefit over 12,000 residents in the district.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, President of the Nyika Media, Wanangwa Tembo, hailed the NRWB for the new partnership.<\/p>\n
He said the local media market provides little room for specialisation and that such interface meetings enable journalists to gain better understanding of issues that they report on.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
