{"id":32487,"date":"2016-09-26T10:13:34","date_gmt":"2016-09-26T08:13:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=32487"},"modified":"2016-09-26T10:13:34","modified_gmt":"2016-09-26T08:13:34","slug":"coca-cola-kuphaka-life-thrills-youths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/09\/26\/coca-cola-kuphaka-life-thrills-youths\/","title":{"rendered":"Coca-Cola Kuphaka Life thrills youths"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Coca-Cola Kuphaka Life which has been expanded and this year is talking city take over, kicked off on Saturday at Blantyre Sports Club.<\/p>\n<p>Several activities were on song during the event which offered the audience dominated by the youths a platform to among others, have fun, showcase their skills and win different Coca \u2013Cola items.<\/p>\n<p>The event started in the morning with different games through to the afternoon with performances on stage coming from Suffix, who was selected to perform at the event by the fans, Home Grown African, Bucci and <em>Chipapapa <\/em>star Tay Grin, who closed the chapter.<\/p>\n<p>The Coca-Cola Kuphaka Life which is a platform introduced in February 2015, lived up to its billing although it could have done better in terms of attracting more youths.<\/p>\n<p>But with that said, those who came did not regret the outing including Beauty Banda, who won a yearly supply of Coca- Cola following a raffle draw which was conducted late on with Tay Grin picking the winning ticket.<\/p>\n<p>The entry fee for the event was K1,000 each and upon entry, one was given a Coca- Cola drink plus a plastic cup as well as raffle tickets which saw Beauty claiming the yearly supply of Coca-Cola prize.<\/p>\n<p>There was also a special moment which saw a battle between three well-known dancing groups namely Metics, Floor Steppers and Twist battling it out.<\/p>\n<p>One of the members of the organising team, Talumba Chirwa, said the three dancing groups were picked to be part of the event because of their popularity and professionalism.<\/p>\n<p>Metics and Twist prides in being Times Group\u2019s Ka Jive Dance competition winners while Floor Steppers have gone on to become runners up in one of the outings.<\/p>\n<p>But at the end of it all it was Floor Steppers which impressed with their routine winning the hearts of the audience and the judges.<\/p>\n<p>Floor Steppers which has become a brand name in the world of dancing in the country being utilised by different organisations during their functions, showed during the battle that they are a force to reckon with.<\/p>\n<p>Floor Steppers\u2019 set was way up from the word go showing they rehearse while Twist and Metics\u2019 performances failed to glitter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are happy to have come out the victors in this battle and this will motivate us to keep working hard,\u201d a member of Floor Steppers Tamandani Kapiye said.<\/p>\n<p>Floor Steppers triumphed as the best performers while Metics shined as the best dressed group.<\/p>\n<p>Having been selected by the fans to make the list of performers on the day, Suffix made sure he put up the best performance.<\/p>\n<p>The artist, who is working on an EP, managed to do that and impressed although he still has more room for improvement. He is surely another artist to watch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am happy to perform here and the support I received. I am determined to continue doing better,\u201d Suffix said.<\/p>\n<p>Home Grown African also took the platform to dish out the Coca Cola Kuphaka Life track which was produced by Sonye.<\/p>\n<p>Titha Mbilizi, who is Senior Brands Manager (Non-Alcoholic Beverages), said they were satisfied with the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore youths came and participated in the games and also enjoyed the performances and we hope to gain more and build on the new Coca-Cola campaign <em>Taste the Feeling <\/em>incorporated in this year\u2019s Kuphaka Life,\u201d Mbilizi said.<\/p>\n<p>From Blantyre, the Coca-Cola Kuphaka Life moves to Lilongwe and Mzuzu next month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Coca-Cola Kuphaka Life which has been expanded and this year is talking city take over, kicked off on Saturday at Blantyre Sports Club.
