{"id":32348,"date":"2016-09-23T09:50:10","date_gmt":"2016-09-23T07:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=32348"},"modified":"2016-09-23T09:50:10","modified_gmt":"2016-09-23T07:50:10","slug":"standard-banks-blue-mingoli-returns-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/09\/23\/standard-banks-blue-mingoli-returns-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Standard Bank\u2019s Blue Mingoli returns November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Standard Bank has announced that this year\u2019s Blue Mingoli Music concert will take place on November 5 at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>In a press statement, Head of Marketing and Communications, Thoko Unyolo, said the show will maintain its legacy of inviting an international musician who will be supported by a local musician in line with the goal of promoting the development of budding artists in Malawi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to be returning to the big stage with Blue Mingoli this November, and we ask customers and music lovers alike to look forward to a memorable experience with the blue sound of music,\u201d Unyolo said.<\/p>\n<p>She said the names of the headline international and local musicians are under lock and key, but will be unveiled shortly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on the success of last year\u2019s show with South Africa\u2019s Lira, we are working on bringing an Afro-pop musician commanding a bigger appeal and repertoire. The international artist will share the stage with a local contemporary musician. We shall unveil the names soon,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>However, sources indicate that the local artist set to perform at the event is Patience Namadingo.<\/p>\n<p>Unyolo said this year\u2019s Blue Mingoli concert is under the theme \u201cMore than Music,\u201d to underscore the connections that the concert creates by bringing together people from diverse backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>She also said that this year\u2019s concert will be supported by other activities focusing on arts and culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Blue Mingoli concert every summer gives us the opportunity to connect with both new and existing customers and to give back something to Malawians who love to unwind to a popular afro-beat that comes with a tinge of jazz,\u201d Unyolo said.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its fourth year, Blue Mingoli which was rebranded from Joy of Jazz is the Malawian version of international jazz concerts that Standard Bank Group hosts around Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Previous artists brought by the bank include US jazz maestro Earl Klugh and South African singer and guitarist Zahara.<\/p>\n<p>While Standard Bank has kept a tight lid on its international act, Stanbic Bank in Zambia will be hosting its festival on October 7 and 8 to be headlined by well-known British reggae and pop band UB40.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Standard Bank has announced that this year\u2019s Blue Mingoli Music concert will take place on November 5 at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
