Art will always standout as one of the important elements in helping provide the much needed entertainment but also disseminate information on different important issues.<\/p>\n
Artists use their art in tackling for instance health issues and an example is a song Malungo Zii <\/em>by Chileka-based reggae group Black Missionaries that talks about the dangers of malaria.<\/p>\n This is a disease that continues to claim lives of people particularly in Southern Africa and is spread by mosquitoes.<\/p>\n Artists have also come out fully to disseminate information on the dangers of HIV\/Aids and lately they have been instrumental in fighting against abductions and killing of people with albinism.<\/p>\n Art has also been used to help out in raising funds for different causes and this brings us to an event dubbed Music, Fashion Fantasia which has been organised by Cancer Survivors Quest (CSQ).<\/p>\n The Music, Fashion Fantasia will be held at Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre.<\/p>\n CSQ founder Chikhulupiriro Ng\u2019ombe said on Tuesday that they have been struggling with, among others, issues of funds in the fight against cancer.<\/p>\n He said they have been raising funds through sale of ribbons but they thought of using other ways hence art coming in.<\/p>\n \u201cBefore the main course, we will also have time to meet and mingle. All we want is to raise funds but also at the same time enjoy life and show that there is hope, promote survival as people do not know that you can survive cancer,\u201d Ng\u2019ombe said.<\/p>\n He said they will have a lot of activities during the event.<\/p>\n Some of those set to display their works during the event include Lucy Nkhonjera, Lilian Mpatsa, Olivia Chimphamba, Harmony, More Blessings and Children\u2019s Choir.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have music and fashion with a purpose. As I said we want to celebrate life, as cancer survivors we sometimes live in denial but through this platform we want to show that we can enjoy life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Ng\u2019ombe said the entry fee is K7,000 and that their target is to raise close to K10 million during the event.<\/p>\n \u201cWe believe people will come in large numbers and support us in this cause.<\/p>\n It will be a platform where they will also learn more about cancer and this will be the beginning of more fundraising events for us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Art will always standout as one of the important elements in helping provide the much needed entertainment but also disseminate information on different important issues.
