Former president, Joyce Banda, who is People\u2019s Party (PP) founder and president, has accepted resignation of the party\u2019s Spokesperson Kenneth Msonda.<\/p>\n
Msonda announced his decision Wednesday in a letter addressed to the PP Secretary General, Ibrahim Matola, saying he is taking a rest from active politics and wants to reflect on his spiritual life, and spend more time with his family as he seeks God\u2019s guidance on his political career.<\/p>\n
However, Msonda indicated, in a Facebook page post, that he is still eyeing the Rumphi East Constituency and that he will contest in the 2019 general elections.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been busy with frontline politics since 1994 and I had little time for my family. I will bounce back after resting to contest in Rumphi East Constituency. In view of the above, I have tendered my resignation from the People\u2019s Party with immediate effect. I am praying to God for guidance and wisdom; this is a very difficult, hard and heart-breaking but necessary decision,\u201d Msonda said.<\/p>\n
Speaking through her Spokesperson, Andekuche Chanthunya, the former president said the party respects the decision made by Msonda, saying everyone has the right to freedom of expression.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has exercised his right. We simply wish him all the best in what he wants to do,\u201d Chanthunya said.<\/p>\n
