Domestic boxing records are set to tumble when retired boxers, Kashitigu Ndoro and Ben Chitenje senior, turn the hands of time by meeting in an exhibition fight at Robins\u2019 Park in Blantyre on September 24.<\/p>\n
Ndoro, 75, and Chitenje senior, 72, will curtain-raise Wilson Masamba\u2019s lightweight non-title contest against Osgood Kayuni. Both are talking tough.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe used to dodge me when we were at our peak and now is the time to teach him manners. I have been camping in Shire River with crocodiles to maintain my fitness,\u201d said Ndoro who retired in the 1970s.<\/p>\n
In reaction, Chitenje senior, who quit boxing in 1994, said: \u201cI was not avoiding him. He was a mere journeyman. I used to fight against big names such as King Jetu. There was no time to consider his challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chombe Foods Limited will sponsor the fights, host Mulanje Last Boxing Promotions\u2019 Managing Director, Mike Chitenje, has confirmed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to entertain boxing fans and also give youngsters an opportunity to learn from the seniors,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Chombe Foods Limited Sales and Marketing Manager, Aubrey Kapalamula, said the inclusion of Ndoro and Chitenje senior was a timely boost to budding boxers.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost boxers do not know how to speak during interviews, how to fight standard boxing. This fight will give them a chance to learn how to address the media and how to fight to entertain,\u201d Kapalamula said.<\/p>\n
