T<\/strong>NM Super League defending champions, Nyasa Big Bullets and Mafco FC are among top-flight teams that risk being fined for allegedly violating Club Licensing System requirements on qualifications of head coaches.<\/p>\n

At the start of the season, Football Association of Malawi (Fam) introduced the Club Licensing requirements as the first step towards professionalising the league.<\/p>\n

Club Licensing demands teams to fulfill requirements such as hiring coaches with a minimum qualification of a Caf B Licence.<\/p>\n

Other requirements include having youth and reserve teams, a secretariat complete\u2014with an accountant and administrator\u2014and submission of audited accounts.<\/p>\n

Fam Transfer Matching System Manager, Casper Jangale, confirmed that the association would evaluate Club Licensing requirements and penalise clubs found at fault.<\/p>\n

\u201cMafco FC are still using a coach [Thomas Maloya] who has a Caf C Licence and we already took them to task whereas Nyasa Big Bullets have not yet clarified the position of the head coach after sacking Franco Ndawa,\u201d Jangale said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Lloyd Nkhwazi is the head coach, then the team is safe but if Mabvuto Lungu is in charge, we will penalise them. We also gave Premier Bet Wizards a grace period of up to the end of the month to hire a coach with a Caf B Licence.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the punishments would range from K50,000 to K500,000.<\/p>\n

Bullets Acting-General Secretary, Kelvin Moyo, was confident that his team would escape punishment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recently held a press briefing where we declared Lloyd Nkhwazi as the head coach,\u201d he said without elaborating if the club notified Fam.<\/p>\n

Mafco Vice-Chairperson, Peter Ng\u2019oma, while admitting that Maloya holds a Caf C coaching badge, said technical hitches forced the team to maintain him.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, I cannot comment much because Maloya\u2019s issue is a bit complicated as he was not upgraded together with his colleagues, who got the Caf C coaching licence in 2010. The authorities are looking into the issue,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In reaction, Jangale said they advised Mafco to seek guidance from Fam Technical Director, John Kaputa.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is true that the system somehow betrayed their coach [Maloya]. He was supposed to be upgraded. Anyway, the TD will help them and we will take it from there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Jangale commended Be Forward Wanderers for working with the association on the Club Licencing issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen their coach Eddingtone Ng\u2019onamo was leaving for other duties in Denmark, Wanderers sought our consent to enable Elia Kananji temporarily lead the coaching panel. On Ng\u2019onamo\u2019s return, Wanderers also notified us that he had assumed his responsibilities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
