Defeated welterweight champion, Kudakwache Nkhakamila Banda\u2019s stable has described the boxer\u2019s first loss in the professional ranks to Limbani Masamba last Sunday as a wake-up call.<\/p>\n
New Dawn Boxing Promotions Managing Director, Mike Chimaliza, said they had learnt bitter lessons.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe never saw that coming. It was a tight fight but one moment of brilliance changed the fight completely. As a stable, we will meet to plan on how we should return after serving the mandatory three months break,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Chimaliza also said the stable, alongside Kudakwache, would decide on whether to stick to the boxer\u2019s brother as his trainer.<\/p>\n
Kudakwache dumped his trainer, Badista M\u2019balika, for his elder brother.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis performance has not been good in the last two fights he has fought under the new trainer,\u201d he said after Masamba ended Kudakwache\u2019s 12-bout unbeaten run with a knock-out during the nine-title fight at M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
The southpaw was caught with a hook on the chin with two minutes 27 seconds into the last round before suffering concussion.<\/p>\n
It took about five minutes for Kudakwache to regain consciousness after ringside doctors treated him.<\/p>\n
Ironically, Masamba won despite the absence of his Zimbabwe-based Delta Force Boxing Academy trainer, Clyde Musonda. Masamba was trained his elder brother, John.<\/p>\n
Masamba, 26, improved his record to 16 wins with five defeats in 20 fights whereas Kudakwache dropped his record to 12 wins, one loss in 13 fights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
