{"id":31254,"date":"2016-09-05T11:27:03","date_gmt":"2016-09-05T09:27:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=31254"},"modified":"2016-09-05T11:27:04","modified_gmt":"2016-09-05T09:27:04","slug":"unima-chief-dares-bankers-on-integrity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/09\/05\/unima-chief-dares-bankers-on-integrity\/","title":{"rendered":"Unima chief dares bankers on integrity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bankers in the country have been warned against laxity and urged to prioritise integrity in financial management to keep the sector\u2019s credibility intact.<\/p>\n<p>University of Malawi (Unima) Vice Chancellor, Professor John Saka, made the call in Blantyre on Friday at the Institute of Bankers graduation ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>According to Saka, the banking sector remains pivotal to economic development, hence, the need for players to avoid compromising integrity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a need to adhere to certain core values including integrity.<\/p>\n<p>When the bankers respect integrity it means they will operate professionally,\u201d said Saka.<\/p>\n<p>Institute of Bankers Board Chairperson, Paul Guta, reaffirmed commitment of the institute in advocating for adherence of standards among players.<\/p>\n<p>Guta said the sector remains committed to serving the nation with integrity and credibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor every orginisation to function well, there must be right skills which we believe the institute is creating,\u201d said Guta.<\/p>\n<p>Over 80 students were accorded diplomas and certificates in banking and finance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bankers in the country have been warned against laxity and urged to prioritise integrity in financial management to keep the sector\u2019s credibility intact.
