{"id":31069,"date":"2016-09-01T11:30:13","date_gmt":"2016-09-01T09:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=31069"},"modified":"2016-09-01T11:30:14","modified_gmt":"2016-09-01T09:30:14","slug":"international-firms-shun-agriculture-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/09\/01\/international-firms-shun-agriculture-fair\/","title":{"rendered":"International firms shun agriculture fair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Only one out of the 85 planned exhibitors who have confirmed their participation to this year\u2019s agriculture fair is foreign, the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) has confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>The fair is scheduled to take place in a week\u2019s time and MCCCI is still optimistic to meet its targets.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Operations Officer at the Chamber, Chimwemwe Luhanga, said there\u2019s still growing interest among potential exhibitors, both from within the country and abroad to participate in the fair to be held at the Trade Fair Grounds in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have capacity to host 91 exhibitors and we are optimistic to achieve that target,\u201d Luhanga said.<\/p>\n<p>Participants at the fair will include agriculture research institutions, the department of agriculture, inputs traders, seed companies, farmer organisations, buyers, and commodity exchange market operators.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Agriculture Fair will be held under the theme, Climate-smart Agriculture, key to sustainable agribusinesses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Only one out of the 85 planned exhibitors who have confirmed their participation to this year\u2019s agriculture fair is foreign, the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) has confirmed.
