The game involving Silver Strikers and Mafco on Sunday at Civo Stadium grossed K7.2 million whereas the match between Nomads and Mangochi Police at Kamuzu Stadium realised K7,390,000.<\/p>\n
Silver and Mafco each earned K1,328,129.83. Both Silver and Mafco have expressed satisfaction with the gate revenue.<\/p>\n
Wanderers and Mangochi each received K1,423,000.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are satisfied but it is ironic that the clubs get less than half the total revenue. Some payments need serious review in view of the financial problems the clubs are going through. Turnout was excellent and we could have realised more. We need to inquire into the causes of the under collection, \u201c Silver General Secretary, Thabo Chakaka-Nyirenda explained.<\/p>\n
On his part, Mafco chairperson, Peter Ng\u2019oma said the revenue was a true reflection of the crowd.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are not complaining about the revenue but we are disappointed that we are out of the competition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Wanderers and Silver Strikers will meet in the Carlsberg Cup final slated for September 10, 2016 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.<\/p>\n
The Nomads qualified for their second successive Carlsberg Cup final after a 1-0 victory over resilient Mangochi Police on Saturday whereas Silver outclassed Mafco 3-1 at Civo Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Silver are looking to break the Carlsberg Cup jinx this year whereas Wanderers are poised to become the only team to defend the cup.<\/p>\n
No team has defended the Carlsberg Cup since it was introduced in 2000.<\/p>\n
But Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets have won it twice each whereas Moyale Barracks, Blue Eagles, Kamuzu Barracks have each won it once.<\/p>\n
