The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) says its annual lakeshore conference slated for this week end will focus on the role of internal auditing in good governance among other things.<\/p>\n
IIA Director, Nkamula Pendama, said all is set for the conference to be held in Mangochi between August 25 and 28.<\/p>\n
Speaker of the National Assembly, Richard Msowoya, is expected to deliver a keynote address at the meeting.<\/p>\n
Pendama said the indaba accords internal auditors from both the public and private sectors a platform to brainstorm on significant change they can bring about in governance at institutional and national level.<\/p>\n
\u201cGovernance is part of internal audit and it centres highly on the core of internal auditing,\u201d said Pendama.<\/p>\n
The meeting will also scrutinise current trends in governance of both the state and the private sector through a panel discussion according to Pendama.<\/p>\n
He said the meeting is also open to delegates from other professions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will not only focus on the financials of an organisation, we will focus on the totality of the operation of an organisation including risk management, internal controls and other key governance areas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
