Domestic hockey giants, Genetrix, are taking part in friendly games in Lusaka, Zambia so as to gain international exposure.<\/p>\n
Zimbabwean top side, Hippo, are also participating in the tri-nation Zambia Invitational Tournament with the aim of defending the trophy.<\/p>\n
Hockey Association of Malawi (Ham) General Secretary, Chigo Thindwa, said the trip to Zambia would help raise Genetrix\u2019s playing standards.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt will also enable us to gauge ourselves against our fellow hockey playing neighbours,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Thindwa also stated that the game between Genetrix and Hippo was stopped at half time on Friday due to a blackout.<\/p>\n
The Ham GS thanked Energem for providing Genetrix with fuel. The team also received support from Riaz Lambat of Quarry Kings, Malawi National Council of Sports and Kips.<\/p>\n
Recently, Zambian hockey side, Lusaka Sharks, toured Malawi in November and defeated four Malawian sides in the men\u2019s and ladies\u2019 sections.<\/p>\n
The two-day tournament was held at Hockey Stadium (formerly Upper Stadium) near Kamuzu Stadium.<\/p>\n
