{"id":30382,"date":"2016-08-22T11:29:16","date_gmt":"2016-08-22T09:29:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=30382"},"modified":"2016-08-22T11:29:17","modified_gmt":"2016-08-22T09:29:17","slug":"genetrix-in-zambia-for-friendly-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/08\/22\/genetrix-in-zambia-for-friendly-games\/","title":{"rendered":"Genetrix in Zambia for friendly games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Domestic hockey giants, Genetrix, are taking part in friendly games in Lusaka, Zambia so as to gain international exposure.<\/p>\n<p>Zimbabwean top side, Hippo, are also participating in the tri-nation Zambia Invitational Tournament with the aim of defending the trophy.<\/p>\n<p>Hockey Association of Malawi (Ham) General Secretary, Chigo Thindwa, said the trip to Zambia would help raise Genetrix\u2019s playing standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will also enable us to gauge ourselves against our fellow hockey playing neighbours,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Thindwa also stated that the game between Genetrix and Hippo was stopped at half time on Friday due to a blackout.<\/p>\n<p>The Ham GS thanked Energem for providing Genetrix with fuel. The team also received support from Riaz Lambat of Quarry Kings, Malawi National Council of Sports and Kips.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Zambian hockey side, Lusaka Sharks, toured Malawi in November and defeated four Malawian sides in the men\u2019s and ladies\u2019 sections.<\/p>\n<p>The two-day tournament was held at Hockey Stadium (formerly Upper Stadium) near Kamuzu Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s category, Sharks won all their four games with Genetrix finishing second.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Domestic hockey giants, Genetrix, are taking part in friendly games in Lusaka, Zambia so as to gain international exposure.
